Hey everybody! Our Anniversary Fest will be starting Monday April 25th, and it's time to start thinking about what we want to do this year.
I'm not sure about putting up posts about communities like I did last year, since those posts are still available, and I feel like I would be treading a lot of the same ground. But I'm not sure what to replace that with if I don't do it.
It seems like I cannot keep up with my reading circle anymore, things have grown so much, but because of our overall smaller user base, community participation could use a boost, as well as just general commenting, so I was rolling around the idea of some small challenges in those areas. I would love to have some graphics that people could post to their journals for completing these small challenges, but I am not skilled in that area. Would anyone out there be able to help make us some graphics?
How do you all feel about friending memes this year? Would you prefer general ones, or themed ones, or something else? What about comment fic memes?
Feel free to add your own ideas, hopes and dreams (lol) in comments, but I make no promises.
As before I will be asking people to keep fest posts Dreamwidth only until the fest is over. This year I will be closing the comm after the fest, as it became very inactive over the past year, and I think sometimes less is more. I hope to open it every year around our open beta anniversary date, which charmingly is also my birthday, so that we can celebrate amongst ourselves every year.
And, of course, please signal boost the hell out of this post if you can.
ETA: I have a ton of ideas at this point that I think will be loads of fun!

Date: 2011-03-07 06:44 pm (UTC)Friending memes, yes. I'm psyched that
I really like the idea of challenges for posting in comms--hopefully it won't just lead to crappy spammy posts, hahaha. I saw on my network a few weeks ago someone talking about a... fandom appreciation challenge week, or something? Like Monday the challenge would be to leave comments on 3 fics by people you don't know, Tuesday would be to do a rec post, etc. Of course now I can't find the post (I must've misremembered the phrasing they used), but I wonder if something like that might be adapted to posting in comms generally or something?
